Welcome To the World, Madelyn!!

Madelyn's birth story: Since I was diagnosed with gestational hypertention during this pregnancy my doctor decided to induce me at 38 weeks and 3 days. We went into the hospital (Odessa Regional Medical Center) Wednesday January 4th at 10pm. My parents came earlier in the day to stay with Max, which we were so thankful for. Once we got to the hospital they started me on Cytotec pills. At this point I was dilated to a 3 and 60% effaced. 4 hours later I got another pill. During this time we just hung out and tried to get some rest. At 7am after the 2 pills and just starting Pitocin I was only a 3 and 70% effaced. I thought this sounded horrible but my doctor was happy with it. He was about to break my water but said I will probably go fast and decided to wait since anesthesia wasn't available to do my epidural at the time. I started contracting more and they were pretty painful. At 10am I got my epidural. The contractions were relieved and the bottom half of my legs got numb but nothing else. At 10:45am my nurse broke my water and I was still only dilated to a 3. As soon as she left the room I started feeling a lot of pressure but didn't think too much about it except that I thought I was just being a wimp. With in minutes I was in so much pain from the pressure all I could do was scream. I was so embarrased when 5 nurses came storming in the room to see what I was screaming about. One checked me and said "she's complete, who's her Dr?" Another yelled out to the secretary to call Dr. Fanous and tell him to get here now. They were talking me through not pushing. Luckily 5 minutes later my Dr got there just in time to catch her after only 2 pushes! She was born at 11:02am on January 5th on Steve's birthday!! She was 6.4 pounds, 19 inches long, and looked just like Max when he was born! She couldn't be more perfect! I tore a little and felt everything. It was a crazy experience but much better than the 2.5 hours I pushed to get Max out.

Proud daddy on his birthday!! He couldn't be happier about this present.

Max loved her right away

Aunt Cindy wasn't planning on coming but once she heard she was here and saw a picture she had to catch the next flight out :)

Poor baby girl had a positive coombs test which caused her to be a little jaundice and stay under the bili lights for a day.

Our family of 4!!

A happy Grandma (or Nancy as Max calls her)!

A happy Papa!
